Before I got my Paiste Cymbals, I used Amedia Cymbals, Hi Hats were "Ahmed Legend" and the rest "Vigor Rock" Line.
The ride was still the Zildjian K-Custom.
It was fun to play these cymbals ! I still got some of them but I use Paiste these days.
Funy story is that I begun with Paiste and finaly I ended up with them again after alomost 10 years :-)..

My last kit before I get the Sonor kit was this kit :
1 20” x 18” Kick Drum
2 14" x 5,5” Snare Drum
3 10” x 8” Tom
4 12” x 9” Tom
5 15” x 14” Tom
6 20" x 14” Gong Drum
The shells were all Tama Starclassic Maple, and the colour of the drum kit was British Racing Green.
I had a second kick drum 20"x 18", and an 8”x 7” tom, a 12”x 5,5” Soprano snare drum, all of them Tama Starclassic Maple in the same colour.

This was mounted on Pearl hardware and a Pearl DR-500 Rack. The kick pedal was a DW-5000 Twin Pedal. I played with one kick-drum, but when I used two kick drums, I was able to split the twin pedal into two seperate pedals. However, I prefered playing on a twin pedal.
Together with the live sound engineer of Delain we came up to the next "live" mic. set-up:
Inside the kick drum we used a Shure Beta 52 microphone. Besides the Beta 52 we use a Audix D-6 in the hole of the the fronthead. We had a Shure Beta 56 on the snare drum. Inside the gong bass a Shure 819 ( Old version of the Shure Beta 91 ) and on the toms Shure Beta 98’s or AKG 604's. On the main Hi-Hat a Shure Beta 98, and for "under" heads we use Audio Technica AT 2020. All micks where mounted on the drum rack.
On the snare drum I used a Remo Emperror X drum head with black dot. On the toms I used Remo Emperror Clear heads on top and Remo Ambassador Clear heads at the bottom and I tuned them equally. On the kick drum I used a Remo Powerstroke 3. On the Gong Drum a Remo Tympany head and I tuned it with a lot sustain and enough low tones.
Inside the gongbass I build my own mounting system for the Microphone. When it has a long mid-low sustain it is tuned right to me.
The sticks I used back then, where the same as I use now : Balbex Germany 5A Drumsticks.

The pedal was a DW-5000 twinpedal, I played with Pro-Mark 5a drumsticks.
I had LP temple bLocks near floortom E, LP barchimes above the gong drum and tambourine near the hi-hat 5.
You'll hear this kit when you listen to the MP3 "Keyhole" in the MEDIA section.
The heads I used were Remo ambassador coated on toms and Remo ambassador clear on octobans, on the gong drum a timpany head, on the snares Remo coated ambassador, on the kick a powerstroke 3.
All mounted on Pearl hardware and a Pearl DR-500 drumrack.
I started in 1996 to "build" this kit I guess.
I've had some jobs in the weekends and with the money I make I bought some stuf and finaly I had a Pearl Export kit.
The first thing I did when I had the toms was "isolate" the toms with the Pearl "ISS" System,
I had two kicks with no bracket on it.
The rest of the Details :
All Pearl Export Shells :
- 20X18 Kick, 2x
- 8x8 Tom
- 10x10 Tom
- 12x11 Tom
- 13x12 Tom
- 16x16 Floor
Snares were a Premier Metal Snare 14" x 5,5" and a Pearl Maple Piccolo Snare 13" x 3,5" (still have them!:-)
Cymbals where Paiste, for as far I can remember this is the list :
- 22" 2002 China
- 20" 2002 Power Ride, or A Sound Creation 20" Ride (I had Both)
- 17" 2002 Crash
- 20" Signature Mediun Thin China
- 8" Signature Splash
- 10" Signature Splash
- 12" Signature Splash
- 16" Signature Mellow Crash
- 17" Signature Fast Crash
- 14" Signature Medium Hi-Hat
- 10" Sound Formula Micro Hi-Hat
Hardware was all Pearl, mounted on a DR-80 Drumrack.
I've had to look everywehre, but I found some pics !
The first pic shows the first version of the kit,
The second pic shows the same kit with the DR-500 rack.
Before the Export kit my parents rent a drumkit for me, from age 8 till 17 for as far I can remember.
I don not know If I have some pics of this kit, but if I find some I will show them here ofcource! ;-).
So, you can see I tried a lot of stuff, Finally I ended up with the Sonor SQ-2,
The combi of "me" and Sonor works the best for me!
